Use this checklist when reviewing a role. These are questions to ask, not terms of a vacancy.
- Duties and work location
- Check the actual responsibilities and where you would work, not only the job title.
- Remote work and eligibility
- Remote work, residence requirements, qualifications and eligibility to work are separate conditions. Do not infer one from another.
- Days, hours and contract duration
- Distinguish teaching time from preparation, counselling and administration. Check the contract duration separately.
- Pay and comparison units
- Read the hourly or monthly amount, whether it is before tax, and the corresponding working hours. Do not infer an amount that is not stated.
- Recipient and purpose
- Check which organisation receives your information, which fields are needed and why. Do not share unnecessary personal information.
- Application route and receipt
- Opening an external page or an email app does not submit an application. A receipt and an employer’s review are also different events.
